Meet Your Instructor

Claudia brings a lifetime of horse experience to the business!

Having grown up with horses in Switzerland, Claudia’s background is in basic dressage and jumping. In the saddle since she was 6 years old, her passion for everything “horse” has never diminished.

With almost 30 years of driving under her belt, she continues to hone her skills using her horses for wagon rides, farm work, and a few competitions each year. The horses spend plenty of time going out on pleasure drives, harrowing and spreading manure, and also serve as lesson horses in Claudia’s clinics and workshops.

You will have seen her at the Ravalli County Fair, as well as at the Deer Lodge Draft Horse Expo where she competed for over twelve years, winning the 2015 Master Teamster Classic at that event. Claudia loves the challenge of driving multiples, such as 3 and 4 a-breast, unicorn and 4-up.

She’s a long-time member of the Bitterroot Draft Horse & Mule Club, where she has served as secretary and president for a combined 14 years. Claudia is an active member of the Montana Draft Horse & Mule Association, where she serves on the board. She also supports the Ten Mile Driver club with her membership.

Claudia offers driving instruction and training for all levels of drivers. A good solid foundation will produce a safer horse and driver.

In today’s high-tech world, driving and working horses in harness is quickly becoming a lost skill. Claudia is dedicated to passing on these skills to others, as they were passed on to her by the many horsemen and teamsters she has encountered throughout the years.

Claudia does not specialize in any one discipline of driving, but rather focuses on helping students build a solid foundation from which they can expand their driving interests.

My teaching style is straight forward. I feel we take lessons and clinics to improve ourselves. I am a firm believer that we need to work on ourselves before we can work on our horses. Our horse will improve once we have improved ourselves. I strive to develop good safe driving practices in my students by breaking it down into smaller steps, for both horse and driver. Knowledge is power – the more we know, the safer we can be, the more fun we can have.

Meet The Teamsters

Carl and Claudia bring a lifetime of horse experience to the business!

Having grown up with horses in Switzerland, Claudia’s background is in dressage and jumping. In the saddle since she was 6 years old, her passion for everything “horse” never diminished. Once she experienced the beauty of the American west, trail riding became her favorite thing to do with their horses.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Carl was introduced to horses as a young man when he signed up for a pack school in Idaho’s back country. He fell in love with the west and never returned east! He loved to trail ride and honed his skills as a trail guide, packer and horseshoer.

There was nothing more fun and relaxing, we thought, than trail riding – until we were bitten by the driving bug! It would eventually take us into a direction we never imagined we would go!

We spent over 20 years in the guest ranch industry wrangling, guiding and packing.  This is where Claudia discovered her love for teaching, which has flourished into offering training help, driving lessons and clinics.

Safety has always been our utmost priority and our dedication to your safety carries over to providing fun and memorable wagon rides for public and private events.

With almost 30 years of driving under our belts, we continue to hone our skills using our horses for farm work and a few competitions here and there.

The horses spend plenty of time going out on pleasure drives and serve as lesson horses in Claudia’s clinics and workshops.

You will have seen us at the Ravalli County Fair, and we competed at the Deer Lodge Draft Horse Expo for a good dozen years, where Claudia won the 2015 Master Teamster Classic.

A highlight is to be invited by the Grant Kohrs National Historic Site for their annual Loose Haying Demonstration for over 15 years.

And while Carl is happy to stick with two horses, Claudia loves the challenge of driving multiples, such as 3 and 4 a-breasts, unicorn and 4-up.

We are long time members of the Bitterroot Draft Horse & Mule Club, where Claudia  has served as secretary and president for a combined 14 years.

We are also active members of the Montana Draft Horse & Mule Association, where Claudia serves on the board.

Claudia also supports the Ten Mile Drivers club with her membership.

While we enjoy working our horses, our day jobs are owners and operators of Double C Property Care, LLC. Our company offers residential cleaning services as well as care taking of seasonal homes.

In today’s high-tech world, driving and working horses in harness is quickly becoming a lost art and we are dedicated to passing on our skills to others, as it was passed on to us.

Come join us for a memorable wagon ride and add a touch of the old west to your next special occasion!
